This cherry plate was made from the same log in Maine as all the other plates in my shop. I turned it on the lathe and then carved the bottom to give it a nice holding texture.

I love using wooden plates because they are quiet to use with utensils and can even serve as cutting boards. Lightweight and durable, they could also be used for picnics or camping.

It’s made out of a quartersawn blank so it won’t warp or change shape once washed and used on a daily basis.

Finished with food-safe walnut oil.
