These cherry plates were made from the same black cherry log in Maine and turned on the lathe. I love using wooden plates because they are quiet to use with utensils and can even serve as cutting boards. Lightweight and durable, they could even be used for picnics or camping.

It’s rare that I make plates because they require a tree twice their diameter! This tree was a whopping 22” diameter. Wooden plates are best when made out of quartersawn blanks so they won’t warp or change shape once washed and used on a daily basis. Finished with food-safe walnut oil. I made four total, and am selling them as pairs.
